Pieter Bruegel the Elder, also known as "Peasant Bruegel," was a Dutch painter and printmaker, the most famous and significant of the artists bearing this surname. He was a master of landscapes and genre scenes. He was the father of the artists Pieter Bruegel the Younger and Jan Brueghel the Elder.
